Crossing the Continent: 1700s-1900s In-Person
Discover the history of migration in the United States from 1700-1900. Learn about European migration as well as both the voluntary and involuntary migrations of Native American and enslaved peoples. Discover how the Revolutionary and Civil wars influenced settlement as well as the impact technological advancements such as the opening of the Erie Canal and the cotton gin had on migration.
Presented by Mary Lynn Wilson. Mary Lynn has a PhD in Indo-European Studies and taught history at San Jose State University for over 20 years. She has completed the Boston University course on Genealogical Principles and is currently obtaining an Advanced Skills in Genealogy Certificate from the National Genealogical Society.
