The History and Architecture of San Francisco’s Chinese American Neighborhoods In-Person

Genealogist Grant Din will discusses the 19th century settlement and community formation of San Francisco's Chinatown and migration patterns to neighborhoods such as the Richmond and the Sunset in the mid-20th century.  He will describe where people lived before and after the earthquake and fire of 1906, and into the 20th century.  Discover stories about important people in the development of San Francisco’s Chinese American community such as historian Him Mark Lai, business owners Sinclair and May Louie, and 19th century rancher Lim Lip Hong and his descendants.

This event will be in the Oak Room at the Main Library.

Social half-hour is from 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM. Program starts at 10:30 AM. Hosted by the San Mateo County Genealogical Society.  Please RSVP by registering.
